Olive tree
Olive trees are pruned so that their branches hang downwards. The main trunk is often cleft in two, so that it will hang down.
The tree recovers from the damage, the branches hang down like a hand opened up to the heavens.
This allows for easy picking of the olives, it prevents one branch getting too high and over time the tree branches almost follow the shape of the outside of a pudding bowl.
